I heart Friday’s because over at i heart faces they challenge us readers to take a photograph submitted by a reader and put our photo editing skills to work. This weeks photo comes from Lindsay and is titled, “Little Miss”. Here is the original.
As for editing, I agree with others that the background is a little distracting. So I decided to try my mouse pen at some selective coloring in Photoshop Elements 7. Once I had the digital photograph open in my editor, I created a background copy layer. I converted this layer to black and white, leaving the original layer in color. Grabbed my mouse pen and outlined this adorable looking “Little Miss”. Then I deleted her. Yep got rid of the black and white image of her so that the color version could shine right through that black and white layer. I then added a matted frame over the picture to further bring out the color in her sundress. And here you have my final edit.

Last week I finally got Pse7. Costco had an awesome deal that no one could beat. Try $49. Last night I finally had the patience to sit down and try an editing technique I have admired in other photographs. Selective coloring. It was rather easy and I learned it works best on solid objects.
Then Laura over at dolcepics invited her readers to play with a photo and edit away. I was in an editing mood so I decided to join in. Here is the original.
My played version.
This photograph was edited in Photobucket. At first I was going to turn the entire photo old but then the idea of fading the old into the present inspired me. Like your seeing the tractor as it once could have been and how it is today, all in the same photograph.

Thursday creeped up on me quickly this week. Right now I am recovering from a rush drive down the hill to do a little shopping. First I had to stop in Kohl’s, mott to see if I could find some amazing deals. A few weeks ago my friend was able to score two KitchenAid Stand Mixers at around $60 each on the clearance rack. I would love to find such a bargain but alas it was not meant to be for me. I did find a pair of boots I have been eyeballing for awhile but their $60 plus price tag always stopped me. Wednesday I found them on the clearance rack for $12.99. Found a purse that was normally $52 for $25 and a pair of shoes for my son, on clearance of course, for $6.99. During checkout I scored another $15 off my total for being denied a credit card. Can we say an early Happy Birthday to me!
Then it was on to Costco before they closed. I had less than 30 minutes to grab what I needed. Shopping at Costco is a big deal for me because its approximately 65 miles one way to the nearest Costco. But it is worth it. I have insulated cooler bags I put all the cold stuff in to keep chilled on the drive home. Very important since this is the desert and where Costco is located, it gets to be about 120 degrees or more during the summer days. The only good thing about the high temperatures is that it drives all of the “Snowbirds” elsewhere for the summer.
So here are thirteen items I purchased at Costco last night.
Some of those thirteen choices don’t look all that healthy now that I am puting them all on display on my blog. In my defense, I usually buy my fresh fruits and veggies from the local markets.
