Fix It Friday #21

Another reason to love Friday’s? Fix It Friday’s over at i heart faces. Every Friday they will post a reader’s photograph for others to show off their editing skills. This gives me an excuse to purposely learn something new in Photoshop Elements or try my hand at digital scrapbooking. Or in today’s case, a little of both.

Fix It Friday #20

I heart Friday’s because over at i heart faces they challenge us readers to take a photograph submitted by a reader and put our photo editing skills to work.  This weeks photo comes from Lindsay and is titled, “Little Miss”.  Here is the original.

As for editing, I agree with others that the background is a little distracting.  So I decided to try my mouse pen at some selective coloring in Photoshop Elements 7.  Once I had the digital photograph open in my editor, I created a background copy layer.  I converted this layer to black and white, leaving the original layer in color.  Grabbed my mouse pen and outlined this adorable looking “Little Miss”.  Then I deleted her.  Yep got rid of the black and white image of her so that the color version could shine right through that black and white layer.  I then added a matted frame over the picture to further bring out the color in her sundress.  And here you have my final edit.

If you would like to try your hand at editing this photograph, then click on over to i heart faces and show us your skills.  Now its time to go check out the other reader submissions.

Friday Fix It #18

I love Friday’s!  For one its the beginning of the weekend.  Then there is the Friday Fill-In meme which can challenge your brain.  And then there is the Fix It Friday meme over at i {heart} faces which challenges our photo editing skills and allows us to get creative with other people’s photographs.

So above we have the before shot.  And here {just below} is my first edit.  I basically cropped the picture because the window in the background is too distracting with all that light shining through.

And lastly, I decided to get creative with the cropped picture of went with a scrapbookish type edit.  This is such an adorable child that had so much to say without saying a word.

i {heart} faces #24 “Let’s Hear It For The Boys!”

No Girls Allowed! At least in the picture.  All you moms out there are more than welcome to read my contribution to this weeks i {heart} faces theme, “Let’s Hear it for the Boys”

Lets hear it for the Boys!

Let's hear it for the Boys!

This wonderful picture was captured last Friday when I traveled to my parents huse to celebrate a belated Happy Mother’s Day and an early Happy Father’s Day!  The kids (my son CJ and daughter’s boyfriend, Ryan) were having a great time in the swimming pool.  I was content to keep myself behind the camera.

So Let’s hear it for the Boys!  Yeah!  Now go on over to and leave a Mr. Linky to your favorite boy photos.

Ah, what a trip this was. The weather was unusually hot. At 3am in the morning the temp was still hovering around 95 degrees. I was sleeping with a wet towel on me to try and keep cool. We did have a fun time though, as you can see from some of the pictures.

Come on over and share your vacation story with us!
