My friend Jen over at Shutter Sisters is celebrating her son’s eighth birthday today. Indeed the years do seem to fly by as your kids get older. One day your baby girl is celebrating her third birthday with new toys and the next she’s old enough to entertain and babysit her younger brother. And next week she’ll be 16! In a blink of an eye nothing is the same. Thank goodness we have the ability to capture those precious moments on film so that the memories can live on a little longer.

Indeed those days of childhood do pass quickly. So what moments in time have you frozen? If your not already a Shutter Sister, click on over there and give them a try. I’m positive you’ll find it a rewarding experience.
The days of summer are quickly heating up. Just over 100 degrees outside right now and its just about 6:21pm here in California. And summer has just begun. I think its time for me to find the swim suit and join my son and his friend in the kiddie pool out back.
Ok so a few people have noticed by commenting on some of the pictures I have been posting the last few days. I must confess that I found a digital scrapbooking site that I am totally lovin’. No mess to clean up and so many design ideas are available at the click of a mouse. Speaking of mice, I still have two trips to Disneyland and some scrapbooking to do of those trips before we go again here next month. While I go dig out my actual scpbooking supplies, please enjoy this page I created of my son CJ. Wishing you a scent-sational weekend!
My gosh, where has this week gone. Seems like only yesterday I was sharing 13 Reasons I love the Desert. In reality, my son and I baked cookies yesterday afternoon while the temperatures outside hoovered around 100 degrees. So to celebrate Thursday 13, here are 13 photographs from yesterday’s baking session.
Sunday has dawned the official start to summer. Soon it will be time to lock ourselves inside where the swamp cooler runs 24/7 to keep cool during the hot days in the desert sun. And starting tomorrow I will waking with the sun so that I may get in my daily walk before it gets too hot out. If only we had a pool like the one we were at on Friday, then you would find us there most of the time. Here’s a few photos of my son CJ enjoying the pool on Friday and my contribution to Around the Islands edition of Summer Stock Sunday#4.
Step one: get in the pool
Step two: plug the nose
Step three: submerge into the water
Step four: Breathe!
Now I am off to upload the 300 pictures I took on Friday to Snapfish and have a photobook made since I won a $50 gift card last week while blogging. I’ve been using Snapfish for a while now and getting the gift card was just an added bonus. But Snapfish is always running specials that you can take advantage of just about anytime. So once you take all those Father’s Day pictures, why don’t you upload them to Snapfish and have them printed out. Here is a special code just for you: June Promotion 50 Free Prints + Free Shipping on orders over $30 use coupon code: SHIP30 Exp. 6/30
When my son got home from school yesterday (Thursday) he was all excited because they (the kindie’s) got to eat lunch outside with all the big kids and play on the “big kid” playground, which he told me he is no longer afraid of. Where has the time gone!
Seems like only yesteday I was sweating through pre-term contractions while watching some lame action flick at the local drive-in theater with six weeks to the delivery date. Flash forward back to reality and my last baby is moving up the school ladder to first grade. They will celebrate this momentus occasion in an untraditional way. No Pomp & Circumstance for these kindie’s! It’s all about running wild and loud through the school sprinklers and then the teachers in their infinite wisdom will supply the children with various sweet treats and ice cream just before their departures from school on the bus.
I am so thankful to NOT be a school bus driver. I can only imagine my worst nightmare the chaos the screaming and bouncing in the seats that will being going on during the ride home. Rest assured my son will still be amp’d on sugar and the sheer joy of summer vacation beginning by the time he arrives home. As my friend Giggles likes to say, “Bring on the little blue pill!”
Earlier this morning as I read the daily influx of emails, a truck pulled up outside, and then I heard footsteps. It was a delivery. I started to get excited that perhaps FedEx had arrived a day early with the camera. Suddenly the day was looking very exciting. Unfortunately, it was just my UPS driver with a package for my hubby.
Speaking of hubby, I thought I would share the envelope my son brought home from school yesterday. CJ made a Father’s Day gift as they wind down the school year. I have no idea what is inside, CJ tells me, “It’s a secret.” so I will just hve to wait until dad opens it.
I Love Dad
Happy Father's Day
Yesterday I ordered some personalized Father’s Day gifts on-line. CJ helped me pick out a shirt for dad and he will get a matching shirt just for him. I can’t wait to take pictures of father and son wearing matching “Tool Guy” shirts. And for my step-dad I ordered a mouse pad personalized with a fun picture of the grand-kids. Sure to bring smiles to all.
