This post was inspired by one of my Shutter Sisters, who shared an amazing story and some beautiful pictures about friendship today on her blog.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Friendship is co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more people. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis. Friends will welcome each other’s company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. Yet for many, friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.
Meet Susan. She is my BFF! I say that because it seems like forever since we first met. That was in 1976. From 1993 to 2007 many, many miles separated us. But in 2007 fate brought us a little closer together. She’s only 3 1/2 hours drive compared to whatever it is from California to Tennesse!
This past October we discussed via texting how best to re-decorate her bathroom. Me, being the creative one, shared many ideas. She thought I was crazy for driving all that way to her house for the weekend just to help her paint her bathroom. For all the years we spent a apart, I would gladly drive 4 hours on a Friday night through evening traffic alone in amini-van with a 5 year old child, just to help her paint her bathroom. That’s what friends are for.
I proudly dedicate this Blog Post to my bestest friend in the whole wide world, Susan!
